coaster #12: cupcake coaster

i made a mug rug today for my morsbag swap partner over at craftster.org that features a pretty cupcake applique. after i discarded today's first coaster--it was ugly and getting uglier--i decided to make one using the same cupcake template which i got at boredandcrafty. what a great little pattern. pretty much any fabric looks downright sweeet with it.

and it adds a bit of zip to a bottle of water, too.

coaster #10: sun with french knots

i got this sun fabric at a garage sale during the summer. you probably can't see it on the screen, but it's very shimmery, a really nice piece. i added  eight french knots to the outer circle just to give it a little bit of a color pop and a little bit of texture.  i'm liking this fine.

here's the back of the coaster.

the cats seem to want to get in on the action and kish, who is really the scaredy cat, joined me tonight for the coaster making fun. what a handsome boy he is!

kish, so far things have worked out fine in the testing of the coasters and i hope that tonight you'll witness another  thumbs up result.

coaster #5: rorschach butterfly

this coaster was made the way you probably did it in nursery or kindergarten. i put some acrylic paint on a square piece of dull green denim--like military denim-- then folded the fabric and pressed on it. then i cut around the shape. i'd definitely like to do  a series of these. they're easy and they're fun. and fabric is great for coasters.
